One of the organisers of the Trinity triathlon says its accolade as London’s best children event of the year is mostly down to the hard work and warmth of the volunteer team.
Trinity School in Croydon has run the event since 2012 when it was launched in the run up to the London Olympics.
It now attracts more than 500 participants in several age groups ranging from eight to 19 years old.
The school and organisers are celebrating after it was named London Region Best Children’s event 2015 by Triathlon England.
Organiser Tim Deakin said: “Winning the Triathlon England award is a fantastic accolade as London probably has the most popular events in the country.
“To be voted the best of the best is superb. The key feature of Trinity Triathlon is the warmth and efficiency of our volunteer marshals and so a big thank you goes to all of them.”
The Trinity triathlon is set to return for the sixth time next year with the event being held on July 3 and entries are now open.
