Carshalton-born boxer Lenny Daws could challenge Michele Di Rocco in a rematch for the EBU super lightweight title, and he is out for revenge.

The pair last met in June 2013 when the Italian Di Rocco won in controversial circumstances to claim the vacant European title.

Daws, following last weekend’s comfortable points win over Mikheil Avakyan at the Derby arena, is the mandatory challenger for Di Rocco’s belt.

However, the 36-year-old is uncertain if he will get his shot at revenge, as it all depends on Di Rocco.

Daws said: “He’s held the title for two years now, so he’s likely to want to fight for a world title.

“If he decides he wants to defend his Euro title, he has to face me and I’m not sure he wants to do that.”

Last time out, Daws appealed, unsuccessfully, over Di Rocco’s points win, claiming rule infringements between rounds in the Italian corner.

Daws said: “It is about revenge, I felt robbed last time out. Now we need answers from his camp about a fight sooner rather later so we can prepare.”

The win over Avakyan was a scrappy affair, with the Georgian’s points deduction for holding with his head the overall story of the bout.

Daws said: “It was good to get eight rounds under my belt, but in truth in was an easy fight.

“He was scrappy and just ran at me, stopping me doing my stuff.”

He added: “I got a nasty cut eight months ago, and that came through unscathed, which was another positive.”
