We are reflecting on the businesses that opened this year as we approach the final weeks of 2023.

Though a few businesses have closed, some businesses opened or moved to locations in Sutton this year.

Three of the shops and cinemas that have debuted in Sutton this year are below:

Omniplex Cinema Group

Omniplex Cinema Group expanded into Britain this year from Ireland, including Sutton.

It had acquired the old Empire Cinema location at St Nicholas Centre.

The cinema opened on December 8 and now film fans in Sutton are able to enjoy a cinematic adventure in the comfort of the 12-screen multiplex cinema.

It had also opened in Birmingham, Ipswich, Clydebank, and High Wycombe this year.

B&Q

A brand-new B&Q opened on Sutton High Street this year on August 24.

The opening of the new B&Q opened up 18 positions for employees, with each of them present at the opening.

The unit manager Justin Haines was joined by Colin Stears on its opening day, and help from Sutton’s Local Women Centre.

Opening hours at Sutton’s new B&Q are 7am - 8pm Monday – Saturday, and 10am - 4pm on Sundays.
