IN THE fight against climate change, everyone has to do their bit.

British Gas managing director Phil Bentley explains what it is doing: "Switch on the news any time in the past year, and you'll have heard something about climate change.

From the effects of the weather to the warning bells sounded by the Stern review there has been a sharp focus on our changing world.

Climate change is the greatest environmental challenge facing society today.

There is a great deal governments, businesses and people around the world can do.

Our electricity has the smallest carbon footprint of any major energy supplier in the UK.* And with £750m of investment in renewable energy sources in the coming years, we are one of the UK's biggest wind farm developers.

British Gas is also working to help customers improve the energy efficiency of their homes, helping them to save money and reduce their carbon footprint.

Last year we installed more than 13 million energy efficiency products such as loft and cavity wall insulation, boilers and low energy light bulbs.

This helped to save one million tonnes of carbon and benefited more than six million households.

For example, we have recently been working with the Mayor of London to provide Londoners with £100 cash back against the cost of loft and cavity wall insulation.

And more than one million customers have completed our Energy Savers Report.

We can all take action to reduce the pace of climate change.

But we must work together to ensure the planet we hand on to our children is as habitable and sustainable as the one we have enjoyed."
